For our last few nights in Brisbane we stayed at the Treasury Hotel and Casino. There are actually two buildings to the Treasury, one is the hotel itself and the other the Casino, although you can stay in the Casino if you wish. The Treasury, as the name would suggest is the old Treasury of Brisbane building, which was established in the 1800s. The building has been restored where it needed to be, but other than that all the features are the same as they would have been when it was built.
The entrance to the building there are these big wooden doors surrounded by stained glass and a grand chandelier in the foyer.
When you enter the building, the lift is right there, the outside of the lift is the original, however it does have a new lift on the inside. If you head to the left, you’ll be meet with the staircase, with its original wooden bannisters and a desk nook. Before reaching the reception, concierge and foyer areas.
Our room was on the second floor of the building, and from the outside looked down onto an internal courtyard which is used by the restaurant during the day.
Upon entering the room, there is a great, old, big wardrobe, which housed the mini bar as well.
Then on the left was the bathroom, which was a marble masterpiece.
Then onto the room itself, there were two double beds.
A sitting area
A table and a few chairs
My favourite thing about the room, the high ceilings,
If your ever in Brisbane I would definitely recommend this hotel, its great location, a block away from Queen Street, a 15 minute walk from South Bank and a 10 minute walk from Eagle Street Pier, means your never too far away from something to do.
